In the summer of 2002, three of our youth –Aida, Ishmael and Loulou—received competitive scholarships from Amnesty International’s Patrick Stewart Human Rights Scholarship fund. These three were the youngest in the country to receive the funds that summer. With their money, they ‘hired’ another youth, Didi, and together they worked in pairs to interview other refugee teens living in New York. Over the course of a couple months, they tape-recorded and transcribed these interviews. Nine of them are posted here in text form. Select audio sections will soon be posted.
